After talking this through with Julie, I have decided to cross off another one of my goals......Take a picture a day and blog about it for a month.
So starting today...
This is a picture of the view off of my balcony. I sat here today while reading a book and trying to tan :( It isn't very easy to do that here in the great Northwest.
I am also going to add a new column to the right of this page to feature my 'Word-a-Day.' This will also knock off one of my goals and help me get ready to maybe retake the GRE...
So I use google at least 3254532748374837 times an hour. I spend a large amount of time thinking at work about the weirdest things and I don't have access to the internet so as soon as I get home I google it to try to figure out the answers to my bizarre questions of life.
Today:
Question: haptoglobin. What is it? What does it do? Is it important? Did I already learn this???
___reminder: mandy has no memory whatsoever_________
Answer: Haptoglobin is a protein produced by the liver. It connects to a certain type of hemoglobin in the blood. A blood test can tell how much haptoglobin you have in your blood. Drugs that can raise haptoglobin levels include:
- Androgens
- Corticosteroids
Drugs that can lower haptoglobin levels include:
- Birth control pills
- Chlorpromazine
- Diphenhydramine
- Indomethacin
- Isoniazid
- Nitrofurantoin
- Quinidine
- Streptomycin
Okay so thats probably WAY more information than you wanted, but I thought I would share.
I was also asked today at work...
Question: What is a castrated rooster called?
Answer: Capon
I actually did not know the name even though I do have an animal science degree. So I looked it up and it doesn't even sound familiar so I'm happy that my memory didn't fail me this time.
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you learned at least one thing today :)
