Today they talked about the 3 essential ingredients to a marriage: Passion, Intimacy, and Commitment. They also showed us a diagram that relates satisfaction in a marriage to time. For those who are newlyweds, it showed that it is amazing when couples first begin dating and get married. Around years 3-4 it starts to decline. It continues to decline until couples have children and they move out for college. After that it increases to a point that is higher than when they first met. Divorces usually take place between years 3-4 and then again when there is an empty nest.
