First Step:
- Grad School studying Primates. CHECK!
I applied to Oxford Brookes University on a whim a little over a month ago. About a week ago, I found out that I was accepted! Ever since then everything has been falling into place rather quickly. It is amazing how it has all worked out :) I will be moving to England in September and will be taking 2 semesters learning all I can about non-human primates and then conducting my own study to complete a 30,000 word thesis during the summer. I still have a few details to plan out, but I have a couple of months to work on them. (ex. place to live, visa)
My last day at work is on Friday and I have mixed feelings about it. There are a lot of great people/family that I have met in Washington and it will be sad to leave them. I will of course miss my monkey friends too. I won't lie though, I have been looking forward to this day for about 2 years :) I never got used to the cloudy weather and unfriendly Seattlites. Although the state is beautiful it just isn't where I belong. I wouldn't mind coming back to visit my favorite stomping grounds though. Here are a few places/events I will miss:
*Ballard - one of my favorite neighborhoods
Cupcake Royale, Farmer's Market, and the Matador
* The view of the mountains/volcano in almost every neighborhood
* The beach just a hike (~20 min) down from my apartment. I'll miss coming out at low tide to see all of the sea creatures and laying out with a book and some wine.
* The delicious beer and wine!
* The healthy lifestyle Seattle provides.
Although it will be sad to leave all of this I'm ready for a change!! First Stop - Kansas. Second Stop - the UK.
