First - Here is what a ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta) looks like:
- The females dominate the males in both canine size and body mass.
- They have a very strict breeding period (one day only).
- The males testicles enlarge 2-3 months prior to the breeding period.
- They have a toilet claw (used for grooming).
- They participate in stink fights.
- They sunbathe.
- They are cathemeral (active during the day and night).
- When they eat Leucaena they lose their fur.
- They become sexually mature at 2.5 years of age.
- Females lack the brachial organs used for scent production.
- When they eat tamarind they ruin their teeth and sometimes lose their teeth.
- They do have a hand preference.
