Jorg Ganzhorn

I have read 50+ articles related to Madagascar and Lemur catta and a majority of those articles are written by Jorg U. Ganzhorn.  He is a primatologist who has spent over 20 years doing field studies in Madagascar.  I got the privilege of having a meeting with him yesterday with my supervisor and 4 other students studying in Madagascar.  It was really great. He loved all of our project ideas and had a few new ideas for us to play around with.  He asked why I was still smiling after stating that I'm headed to the Petriky Forest.  This forest has NO data and there are very few trails.  Oh and he said that it is 'Hot as hell down there.' Let's just say this will be one adventure :)  The good thing is that any data I collect will be great for conservation and for the wildlife.  We have no idea what species live there and how they are living there. The next site for mining in south-eastern Madagascar is the Petriky Forest; which means baseline data is needed in order to predict the future of that forest.  The mining company is called QMM and they're from Canada.  They've mined all along the south-east coast.  They do believe in leaving small fragments of forest for the wildlife and in promoting conservation studies.  They most likely will be sponsoring my trip.  Anyways, I really enjoyed meeting another famous primatologist and am looking forward to adding him as a reference for this project and future ones.

On a completely different note, I've burned my hands so much that I think I no longer have fingerprints. I have not idea how this happened and it has been with more than one appliance (e.g. curling iron (twice), straightener, oven, pots).

that's awesome!
(meeting the primatologist, not burning off all your prints)
